Custom renovation of a rental studio with terrace in Avignon – Thoughtfully designed for Airbnb guests

Between art and history: a high-end furnished studio facing the Avignon city walls

Located in the heart of Avignon’s historic center, this high-end furnished studio—set within a former bourgeois townhouse—was fully renovated to become a refined rental property for short- and mid-term stays. Designed as an artistic retreat with a Mediterranean aesthetic, the space draws inspiration from a painter’s studio: Provençal color palette, natural textures, and iconic Southern design pieces. The goal was to create a distinctive rental investment with a strong identity, blending local character, modern comfort, and sensory elegance.

An expressive interior design shaped by a palette rooted in local inspiration

The color palette was conceived as a tribute to Provence: terracotta, olive green, mustard yellow, limestone tones, and more.
These shades evoke the local landscape and set the tone for a space where visual emotion plays a central role.
The project also pays homage to iconic figures in art and design who have shaped the region, creating a strong and coherent narrative — a true signature of the place.

A renewed sense of flow and natural light

The layout was completely reimagined to create soft circulation and more generous living spaces. One wall was removed to open up the volumes and make way for a spacious living area with an open kitchen, naturally flowing into a cozy bedroom designed as an intimate extension of the main space.
The bathroom was transformed with a warm, Mediterranean spirit, blending tadelakt-style concrete walls with handcrafted zellige tiles to create a textured, authentic, and enveloping atmosphere.
The original hardwood floors were carefully preserved, sanded, and refinished to restore their natural warmth.
Two previously sealed windows were reopened, now flooding the studio with natural light and enhancing the sense of softness, life, and luminosity.

A Provençal interlude where art, comfort, and authenticity meet

Staying here means enjoying a peaceful moment in sun-drenched, vibrant Provence — where the spirit of simple holidays lives on, with shutters open onto a leafy terrace and the gentle summer air perfectly tempered by discreet, integrated air conditioning.
The studio is well connected to Avignon’s historic center and close to the landscapes that inspired the greats — from Van Gogh to Cézanne, and the luminous scenes of Arles and Saint-Rémy.
Inside, carefully sourced vintage furniture creates a warm and distinctive atmosphere: a Guillerme et Chambron table, Fat Lava ceiling lights in the kitchen, sculptural seating in the spirit of Charlotte Perriand, and a vintage armchair by Vico Magistretti ground the space in a strong design identity.
As always, each piece was found at local flea markets, chosen to preserve the authenticity of the place while introducing a quiet modernity — blending Southern character with contemporary comfort.

A terrace imagined as an open-air room for everyday living

Conceived as a true open-air living space, the planted terrace naturally extends the interior and offers an ideal retreat during warmer months. Its aesthetic draws on the timeless elegance of Roman villas, with stone columns and mineral tones that echo the structured simplicity of classical architecture.
At its center, a raw stone table paired with chairs inspired by the work of Mathieu Matégot creates a discreet yet sculptural ensemble. This outdoor space embodies a subtle balance between classical references and contemporary expression — blending Mediterranean heritage with modern comfort.

An interior with an artisanal and poetic spirit

The rattan furniture, with its simple, natural lines, pays tribute to Charlotte Perriand and blends seamlessly with a palette of Mediterranean materials.
You’ll find washed linen, lime plaster, raw wool, bundles of dried lavender, and a curated selection of locally made or vintage objects.
This high-end furnished studio in Avignon becomes a true Southern-inspired living space — designed to appeal to travellers seeking authenticity, warmth, and comfort.

From design concept to built reality – a bespoke interior project in Avignon

Before materials come to life, every project begins with an idea, a mood, a dreamed-up space. The 3D visualizations shown here express that initial intent — a sensitive spatial language shaped down to the smallest detail. In parallel, the construction site photos capture the moment where vision becomes reality — the dust, the framing, the emergence of volume.
This dialogue between imagined images and built form tells the story of a transformation in motion. The final images, soon to come, will close the narrative with a space completed, inhabited by light, texture, and the spirit of the South.
